Mr. Akira Ogawa, Marketing Director, and Masi Tateishi, Marketing Manager, gave a presentation on “Imported Soybean Status and Future Trends“ at the Lecture Meeting held by the Saitama Tofu Association on December 8, 2007.  53 members from the Saitama Tofu Association participated in the meeting although it was weekend. IM Japan explained global soybean production & consumption, recent supply & demand for soybeans, and the biofuel movement, while supporting the comments made by Mr. Dan Duran in November during his Food Bean Market presentation at the Soybean Conference in Japan, stressing USSEC/ASA-IM’s activities supporting the Japanese Tofu Market for more “win-win” situation, and stating that forward-contract production and higher premiums will be necessary in order to assure continued supply of high quality of U.S. food grade soybeans.
